Quote of the Century (All-Time?)

"No team can replace an Albert Pujols acceptably. Edmonds would actually be the bigger loss, since his offense and defense are a hard-to-find package."

-Will Carrol in this week's edition of Baseball Prospectus' Team Health Reports.

There is a reason why I love that site.

iTunes Podcast

Our podcast is now available for download in the iTunes Music Store podcast directory. Some of you may be unsure of what podcasting is, but Apple does a good job of explaining it.

What is Podcasting?
The word ”podcast” is a concatenation of the words iPod and broadcast. The underlying technology used for podcasts, called RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is capable of containing any type of media including audio, video, graphics, and more.

Podcasting is a way of publishing podcasts to the web, allowing people to subscribe to a podcast and receive new ”episodes” automatically through an RSS feed. Podcasting consists of publishing XML files which contain references to media (called “enclosures”) to a website. Podcast aggregators (often called “podcatchers”), then read these XML files and download all the linked enclosures.

Unlike terrestrial and Internet radio, podcasts are time-shifted, meaning that listeners have control over when and where they hear their favorite programming. And, the episodes are delivered automatically to a subscriber on iTunes so the latest updates are always readily available with no effort required by the listener.

You can find our podcast in iTunes by searching for it or by clicking here

New Weekly Award

Dan and I decided to create a new award in honor of Tim Schmidt. We allocated air time for Tim to come on after he expressed a strong interest in being on the show.

Come show day, no Tim (listen to our first podcast to hear some of the reaction to Tim's abscence.) Anyway, we now have a weekly Tim Schmidt is a scumbag Award. Unlike the So Taguchi Award which goes to the most worthless athletes each week, Schmidt Award will be awrded to the most worthless/annoying/stupid in SLUH each week.

I don't want to give away any hints about who our big winner will be this week, but be sure to tune in and find out.

Another BIG Guest

(Cue medium tempo music)

You may have thought that The People's Show had hit its peak and could only decline. You may have believed that The People's Show could not top last week's star guest. You thought wrong.

That's right because The Show is back with a guest that rivals, perhaps even surpasses last week's. Who? you may ask. Well, his name begins with T, which rhymes with Z as in Mr. Z. The journeyman outfielder turned coach will be joining the guys this week (on Wedesday, not Thursday because of the Senior class Liturgy.)

Isn't quality radio what its REALLY all about.

The Revolution Cannot Be Silenced

After painstakingly posting flyers for the show to inform the ignorant masses of SLU High about the utopia of high school radio that is The People's Show, someone has tried to silence our voice. Thats right, someone ripped down the flyers. No need to call the ACLU just yet, because despite this obvious civil rights infraction many flyers still hang on the hallowed halls and bathroom stalls of SLUH. However, this is a message to the enemies and potential enemies of The People's Show; you may be able to tear down our flyers, but you will not be able to silence the voice of the PEOPLE!

NFL Draft

Although the presence of Mr. Garavaglia on this Fridays show obviously reveals that this is a radio show unlike any other seen in the history of SLUH, possibly the greatest radio show in the history of the world is coming this April. I inform all of you of this show so far in advance so that you can adequately prepare your bodies ands spirits for the show that will change the way you see sports forever. Coming in April The Peoples Show will bring you a Mock Draft. This show will include expert analysis from Nick, Producer Rich, and Myself. Since the inception of ESPN and the development of sports talk radio, this will be the most accurate depiction of the draft in history. Any questions or comments are welcome, so feel free to get involved.

HUGE Guest

Today was a another huge day for The People's Show. Not only did our flyer become approved by the administration despite its communist undercurrents, but we also landed our first big guest. After being denied an interview with Jonah Keri, writer for Baseball Prospectus LLC, some speculated that The People's Show would try to attract "smaller" less well-known fish to the radio pond. Not the case. Today, The People's Show landed the great Mr. Rob Garavaglia, Senior theology teacher.

Make sure to tune in this Friday for the interview. You won't want to be the one guy in the school who missed it.

Edmonds Vs. Pujols 2004

One of the greatest debates/arguments/donnybrooks that The People's Show has had since and preceding its inception, is the one over quite possibly the question of the biggest importance since the birth of Karl Marx; who was better/ more productive/ the better player to have on your team in 2004, Jim Edmonds or Albert Pujols?

Below is a link explaining the correct side of the debate. Please read and as always feel free to e-mail us with any comments.

So Taguchi Award

This week's edition (Feb. 10) of The People's Show features the premier of the So Taguchi Award. The weekly award will go to the athlete or person who best exemplifies the characteristics that So Taguchi posseses; worthlessness.

Many people believe that So Taguchi is not worthless. (This faction is obviously wrong). However, their prescence cannot merely be brushed aside. For this reason, the So Taguchi Award could also be awarded to any athlete or person whom are overcompensated with praise, or jusr plain overrated.

Make sure to listen each week to find out the suprising big winners.
